Al Nakba

Part OnePart TwoPart ThreePart Four

A series on the Palestinian ‘catastrophe’ of 1948 that led to dispossession and conflict that still endures. For Palestinians, 1948 marks the ‘nakba’ or ‘catastrophe,’ where hundreds of thousands were forced from their homes. But for Israelis, the same year marks the creation of their own state. This series attempts to present an understanding of the events of the past that are still shaping the present.

The Day Israel Attacked America

In 1967, at the height of the Arab-Israeli Six-Day War, the Israeli Air Force launched an unprovoked attack on the USS Liberty, a US Navy spy ship that was monitoring the conflict from the safety of international waters in the Mediterranean. Israeli jet fighters hit the vessel with rockets, cannon fire, napalm, and torpedoes. Though she did not sink, the Liberty was badly damaged. Thirty-four US servicemen and civilian analysts were killed, another 171 were wounded. Later Israel apologized for what it claimed to be a tragic case of mistaken identity. This exclusive investigation reveals fresh evidence that throws new light on exactly what happened that fateful day – and the remarkable cover up that followed.

Defamation: Anti-Semitism – The Movie

In his exploration of modern Israeli life, Jewish filmmaker Yoav Shamir travels the world in the hunt for the most recent manifestations of anti-Semitism, and comes up with some startling answers. What Shamir discovers often surprises him. Indeed, his remarkably nuanced and provocative documentary becomes more of an assessment of the internecine warfare happening amongst the Jews themselves than of the attitude portrayed by the gentiles towards Jews.

Gaza Fights For Freedom

Gaza: The Killing Zone

Palestinian civilians live under the threat of Israeli Defence Force attacks that do not discriminate between militants and children. And since the Gulf war, three Westerners have come under Israeli army attack. Within hours of arriving, filmmakers Sandra and Rodrigo are shot at and tear-gassed by Israeli troops breaking up a memorial service for Rachel Corrie, an American peace activist crushed by an Israeli Army bulldozer two days before. That sets the tone for a five-week stay in which they document not only the shooting deaths of other foreign nationals at the hands of Israeli troops, but also the deaths and mutilation of many innocent Palestinians and Israelis.

Inside Palestine’s Refugee Camps

Presented by The Empire Files with Abby Martin

With millions of displaced Palestinians around the world, hundreds of thousands are refugees in their own country—many have lived packed into these refugee camps after being ethnically cleansed from their villages just miles away.

Israel’s Iron Wall

How Israel’s wall is also used as a weapon in the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.

IsraHell on Earth looks at the origins of the abomination that is IsraHell and exposes its apartheid crimes.

Killing Gaza

In this feature-length documentary, journalists Dan Cohen and Max Blumenthal documented Israel’s 2014 war on Gaza.

It was an act of war against an American Navy vessel by the state of Israel during the Six Day War in 1967.

With God On Our Side

Takes a look at the theology of Christian Zionism, which teaches that because the Jews are God’s chosen people, they have a divine right to the land of Israel. Aspects of this belief system lead some Christians in the West to give uncritical support to Israeli government policies, even those that privilege Jews at the expense of Palestinians, leading to great suffering among Muslim and Christian Palestinians alike and threatening Israel’s security as a whole.
